FAQs

Why small groups?
As experienced teachers, we know what works! We find that small groups have lots of benefits. Children thrive in this environment as they encourage and support each other. As teachers, we are able to both stick to a curriculum and divert as pupils need individual tailoring. Crucially, it makes the session fun and keeps the children wanting to come back!
Who are your tutors?
Bella Learning is a family business and we have two main tutors: Annabel and Gary. Find out all about them on our ‘About Us’ page.
Which tests do you prepare for?
We mainly work towards the Kent and Bexley tests and cover all areas including English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
How do I know if my child is right for grammar school?
We are happy to discuss your child with you and give advice. Call us on 07833767680. You might also want to come along to our next ‘11 Plus Explained for Parents’ sessions. Broadly speaking, children who love learning, are academic and choose to read or solve puzzles in their spare time are potential candidates. We would also expect children to be in the ‘top’ groups in school. Their teachers will be able to give you an indication as well.
When should we start tuition?
Our tried and tested method recommends that children start with weekly sessions in year 4, continuing into year 5. This allows time to build strong foundations of the basics and gentle introduction of new topics before building on this in year 5. There is a lot of content to cover and we prefer to make the experience enjoyable rather than overloading the child. Most children love the sessions and see immediate improvements.
Can you guarantee that my child will pass the 11+?
No! We can never say for sure if your child will pass the test; that is up to them on the day. However, we do promise to teach them the knowledge and skills needed to give it their best shot. We also keep you regularly updated with how they are getting on and what they need to do next. The well-being of the child is our highest priority so we are honest about whether we think grammar school is the right environment for them. Having said this, we find children in our groups often thrive and do succeed (if it’s what they want). Many of our previous students attend local grammar schools and love it! Call us for a chat on 07833767680 if you want to find out more.
How does payment work?

Payment is taken in advance half-termly through debit card or bank transfer. Weekly sessions are £30 an hour. Events, workshops and summer schools are booked and paid for separately via the website. We accept payments from the government tax-free childcare account (the government contribute £2 for every £8 you deposit), childcare vouchers and universal credit.

Do you cater for children with additional needs?
Yes! Bella Learning is fully inclusive and our wide teaching histories mean we have experience with many different educational needs. We love that we can give children the space and support to find their own learning style in our sessions and have seen brilliant results. Communication is key so give us a call to find out how we can help.
Do you offer free trials?
Yes. If you call or message us on 07833767680, we can organise a trial session for your child.
